Lino Miele — Ashtanga Yoga

Rome

The school on Via Annia

Lino Miele and Tina Pizzimenti opened the school in 2000. It has taught in the same way ever since.

The room is a few minutes from the Colosseum, and the practice starts early. Most students come in the morning, before work, and practise Mysore style: everyone in the room at once, each person working through their own sequence, with the teacher moving between them.

If you have never practised Ashtanga Yoga before, this is still where you begin. You are taught a few postures, then a few more, and the sequence grows as you do. Guided classes run alongside, where the whole room follows the count together.

Through the year the school also hosts workshops and seminars, and students from the school join the retreats in India and Tuscania.

Coming to practise

You do not need experience, flexibility, or your own mat to start — only the willingness to come back tomorrow.
